Farida Jalal Reveals Karan Johar Shifts Loyalties ‘Very Fast’; Veteran Actress Says, ‘They Wouldn’t Make A Film Without Me At One Point’
Veteran actress Farida Jalal has been raking in all the love and adoration from the audience for her portrayal of Qudsia Begum in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. In recent interviews, she has been opening up about her experience of working with veteran Bollywood filmmakers and how she feels wronged after they didn’t cast her in their films. She has not expressed her disappointment towards Karan Johar and revealed that he shifts his loyalties very fast. 

In an interview with the Bollywood Bubble, the 75-year-old actress revealed that the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani filmmaker didn’t cast her in any roles despite her sharing a close bond with his father, late filmmaker Yash Johar. She expressed how the veteran was one of her favorite producers in Bollywood. Quoted by Bollywood Life, she added, “Back in the day, Karan Johar… I don’t know what he’s like nowadays, loyalties shift very fast. He doesn’t have any role for me in his films these days, even though they wouldn’t make a film without me at one point. His father, Yash Johar, was one of my favourite producers. What a man, what a gem of a person! He’d call me up and say, ‘Dekhiye Farida, hero ka role toh baad mein likha jaata hai, aapka role pehle likha jaata hai’.” ALSO READ: WHAT! Recalling the time she met Karan for the first time, the Shararat - Thoda Jaadu, Thodi Nazaakat actress revealed that it was on the sets of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as he was Aditya Chopra’s “right-hand man on that film.” She went on to share how he narrated her the story of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, during those days, and it left her emotional. She added, “It is still his best film, and I’m not just saying this because I was in it. It was a very sensitive film. He would write each and every word, every scene himself. For those who don’t know, Karan Johar hasn’t worked with her since his film Student Of The Year released in 2012. She essayed the role of Sidharth Malhotra’s grandmother in the film. 

Talking about her work in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Farida Jalal essayed the role of Qudsia Begum, Tajdar Baloch’s (played by Taha Shah Badussha) grandmother. The makers of the web series recently announced that the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial has been renewed for a second season.
